Are you different

Everyday I receive articles from Rick Warren ~ Purpose Driven Connection.  This is part of his article dated 10/19/2010 and I couldn't have said it better.

Make a difference by Being Different

There are four specific pitfalls you will face over your Decade of Destiny as you work toward the goals God gives you: cultural distractions, voices of doubt, tempting shortcuts and discouraging delays. All four of these pitfalls are present in the life of Noah and we can learn from him how to handle these tests.

The first test is cultural distraction. What I'm talking are the things that happen around us that keep us from going after our God-given dreams. For instance --

The distraction of popularity -- If you are always worried about what other people think, you will be distracted from your destiny.
The distraction of pleasure – It’s okay to have fun and feel comfort, but if that's the primary focus of your life, you will never fulfill your destiny.
The distraction of profits -- There is nothing wrong with making a profit. The Bible says God blesses us when we do business wisely and honestly, but it also says you cannot serve both God and money. Making a profit cannot be the primary focus of your life.
The distraction of possessions -- Judging your success by how much stuff you own will keep you concerned about keeping things and maintaining things. You could spend your whole life committed to things and miss the purpose, the plan and the destiny of your life.
If you intend to do anything significant with your life, it's going to be in spite of culture rather than because of the culture. Everything in our culture tempts you into short-term thinking. Most of us are not thinking in terms of the next ten years; we’re not even thinking about next year or next month. We think about today.

And I know I’m stretching you to suggest you to think ten years ahead, but as we noted yesterday, “The wise man looks ahead.” (Proverbs 14:8a TLB)

The antidote to cultural distractions is this: you must dare to be different from others.  If you are going to reach your dream in the next decade, if you are going to fulfill your destiny, if you are going to accomplish your goals and see your vision become reality, you are going to have to dare to be different from others.

And until you settle this issue, you will never fulfill your destiny because you cannot make a difference without being different.  You cannot be all God wants you to be and fit in with everybody else....

Thoughts

The question most people ask: Why do some people succeed and some fail?  It comes down to the knowledge of how your mind works. Your thoughts are mental units of energy that can be measured as an electrical current. Individuals average about 60,000 thoughts daily.  It is what is attracting place, things and people to you. (Thoughts quite literally become things)

You cannot fool your subconscious mind it is your memory chip where all of your beliefs are stored. What you think about you bring about.   When you start to doubt even a little you subconscious will tune into your thoughts and beliefs.  By changing your thoughts you can change your life.  Are you ready for change?

So many individuals have asked what Kairos means ~ below is the Cliffs notes Version from my daughters blog:

Kairos is a time, not measured by the clock, where God has chosen “the right moment” or the “opportune” time. Its the time when your old comfort zone, your old ideas, your old relationships, your old images of God, and your old ways of thinking are shaken up. Everything is turned upside down. The “old” does not work anymore. You enter a crisis, an opportunity, to forge new ideas, new relationships, new images of God, new ways to think about old ideas. You build a new comfort zone.

To great new beginnings!

Procrastination what it costs?

Proverbs 15:19 (LB) A lazy person has trouble all through life.

"Procrastination takes a problem and makes it a crisis. The longer you wait to start, the harder it becomes to begin."

There was a time that I would put things off until tomorrow then tomorrow would come and I would do the same thing over again.  The fear of facing it was harder than doing it!  Many people may say that it was laziness it wasn’t it was fear of failure. While I believe we never really “fail” we just haven’t found the correct way to get it done.  We still have to take that first step to success and for many that is what keeps us from getting it done “procrastination” fear of facing the possibilities.

So how to we go from dreaming to doing  ~ one step at a time.

We started out not being able to walk, we first crawled (except for a few over achievers who went straight to walking) then we took baby steps, stumbled got back up and did it over and over until we mastered the art of walking.  We never gave up we just keep at it, no fear just determination.  When we are able let go of our limiting beliefs new possibilities are endless.

Start making progress

The opportunities you have are too beautiful and too valuable for you to let them pass you by. Stop making excuses and start making progress.
What you imagine, you can begin. What you begin, you can finish.

It's all a matter of choosing to get it done. That's a choice you can make in any and every moment.

Sure, there are challenges and yes, you'll have to step outside your comfort zone to make the necessary efforts. The great thing is, you're fully capable of doing whatever it takes.

You can, if you will. You will, when you make it meaningful enough.

There's great value to be found as you make your way through this day. Seize the opportunity, make the necessary effort, and bring that value to life in your world.

I couldn't say it better ~ Enjoy

Influential thoughts
by Rick Warren
Be careful how you think; your life is shaped by your thoughts. Proverbs 4:23 (GNT)
The Bible says our thoughts influence our lives. For instance --

My interpretation influences my situation -- It's not what happens to me that matters as much as how I choose to see it. The way I react will determine whether the circumstance makes me better or bitter. I can view everything as an obstacle or an opportunity for growth - a stumbling block or a stepping stone.

My beliefs influence my behavior -- We always act according to our beliefs, even when those ideas are false. For instance, as a child, if you believed a shadow in your bedroom at night was a monster, your body reacted in fear (adrenaline and jitters) even though it wasn't true. That's why it's so important to make sure you are operating on true information! Your convictions about yourself, about life, and about God influence your conduct.

My self-talk influences my self-esteem - We constantly talk to ourselves. Do you run yourself down with your self-talk? Stop doing that: "As he thinks in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7 NKJV).
